Thirty-One Gifts was founded in 2003, by Cindy Monroe. She started this business in the basement of her home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cindys mission was to empower women by giving them an opportunity to achieve their dreams. Whether it was financial freedom, or just new friends, Cindy wanted to make it happen. Thirty-One Gifts received their name based off of Proverbs 31, the scripture about the Virtuous Woman.

I joined Thirty-One Gifts in August 2017! I originally joined for the discount, and to pay off debt. However I found that it is so much more than just getting a sweet discount, while paying off debt that I found a sisterhood like I could have never imagined. I have made a handful of really amazing friends along my journey. I love nothing more than meeting someone from a new area that I have never been. I love helping customers find the right product for their needs, or even the perfect gift for any occasion. I love encouraging my team, and helping them in any way that I can. I love how Thirty-One makes it SO easy to do all of this.

There are so many moments in my life I thought I was at my all time low. It’s hard to chose just one moment in my life where I really felt I was so low I wasn’t going to get out, or i was never going to be more than what I was then. That is until this moment happened. I was a walking zombie for 3 years. 3 years, I kept it all in. Depression, financial issues, sleepless nights, new mom lost in parenthood, long work days that still didn’t provide enough, and sometimes going days without food. I was that person that if you even mentioned the words “free food” I was there even if it was at the most inconvenient part of my day. That person who took on everyone else’s problems. That person who lost who she was, what she stood for, and most of all that person who was scared of the world. It took me a solid year, (and I’m still trying to expand my wings!) to bring myself out of being such a zombie. I had friends & family around that helped, sometimes not even knowing that they did.
I started my climb out of this mess in June/July 2017 by learning how to budget, opening up a little bit of what was really going on in my life, and just talking about it more. The biggest start was my 10 day vacation to the west coast with just my best friend. We started in Portland, and ended in San Francisco. We made so many stops, but still to this day I don’t think much could top seeing the redwoods. It’s unexplainable. How can a tree grow so large? So large that I looked like an ant standing inside one that was hollowed out? It occurred to me that I was the only one standing in my way of “growing” as big as those redwood trees. I needed to find myself, find my purpose again, find ME.
Thirty-One Gifts was introduced to me by a good friend, who asked me to host a party. I was a complete skeptic on everything direct sales. Yep, that was me. In March 2017 she asked me to host a party for her, and after having quite a long conversation about it, I agreed. While at this point I was still digging out of my depression, and financial issues. It was time to host my party. I did it online as my work schedule, and home life did not allow for much more. My party ended up being a huge success. I earned $250 in free products, and chose to get products that would make my home life easier. Toy organization was where it was at for me! I was still skeptic on how these products would hold up, and whether or not it was really worth my time. I had no intentions of hosting another party, or doing anything more with Thirty-One until August 1, 2017 when Thirty-One e-mailed me, and said there were having a kit free enrollment for $1. I immediately reached out to my friend, and said I wanted to join. I needed something more in my life to keep me going. I needed the encouragement, and the extra paycheck every month. I had nothing to lose for $1.
I am not a sales girl, and I never ever thought I would be apart of any direct selling company. My first paycheck I received was for $164.75! I couldn't believe it when I checked my bank account, and it was actually there. I was so thrilled that I could get a couple extra groceries, and put the rest towards catching up on bills. Since then, I have continued to grow, not only in Thirty-One, but in my personal life as well. Thirty-One gave me the sisterhood that I never had. Thirty-One gave me the confidence to share my story. Thirty-One has celebrated me, rewarded me, and encouraged me to keep going in, and out of the Thirty-One world.
In short, just because you feel like you are so low that you won’t ever come back from it, YOU ACTUALLY CAN! Find what inspires you to be more, don’t be afraid to take time away from your every day life, even if it’s by yourself. Find your people that are going to push you forward, step out of your comfort zone, and give you that extra nudge that you ARE worth it, and you CAN make your dreams come true.
